Mary Helen
Shining eyes rich with grinning love
Stare into my own
I close my eyes
And cuddle close
I know I'm safe
Strong soft hands and fingers
Flatten the worry wrinkles on my forehead
And a familiar tune hums around my head
I grin and almost cry
It's almost too good to be true
Her smell is her own
Her touch, incomparable
Her laugh
Completely Contagious
Every miracle of nature
She stops and points out
A slice of orange, like a sweet stained glass window
Is held up to light
"Would you look at that?" she says
And I do
The plants know her by name, and vice versa
She is my mother
The Earth Mother
The voice of reason
The giggle of amusement
She's the warmth of love and security.
And the reason I love everything as deeply as I do
